Where I Am.

Freddy Foto Walk

Change of scenery. It can be challenging at times, but other times it could be just what you need. That's how I felt when I originally moved to Grand Manan last spring. It was a far cry from living in a city like Ottawa, and it really helped me rediscover my love for photography. However recently I am just not feeling challenged in my art, having times like I have gone as far as I can with the subject matter on the island.

Now I don't think that I ultimately believe that I have shot everything I can on the island, but I do know that I need to have a change of scenery at times to keep developing my eye. I have always been fascinated with street photography and the people that do it, capturing beautiful moments in the "concrete jungles" they live in. Shooting people in public is something that I have always struggled with, with a fear of making people uncomfortable etc, but I am going to try and force myself to do more of because I love the photo-journalistic feel of those pictures.

Graffiti and textures have always been two of my favourite things to shoot in cities, so I am sure you will see a lot more of in my journey to hone this aspect of my photography. All of this along with hopefully some other things I am going to start experimenting with should make for a great 2014 of photos!

Along with trying to challenge myself and my perspective when I take photos, I will be launching my new online store this week! I will hopefully be running a special promotion in conjunction with the launch (and hopefully achieving my goal of 400 likes on FaceBook). So if you haven't already, please head on over to my FaceBook Page and hit that like button! I'm only 25 likes away (at the time of this post) from reaching that goal! If you already have done this, thank-you so much for your support!
